Day 236 Event: INVASION
Alright Mod Rin, what is this event you've been teasing for ages?
I'm glad you asked, dear nebulous version of my player base!
Remember Helen?
Yeah, we all remember Helen.
She's a bitch.
But she's about to become even more of a bitch. :D
Okay, in all seriousness here is what's going to happen on Day 236, details, and a post to do some plotting with others should you so wish to.
On the morning of Day 236 a broadcast will come over the radios in the settlement. An unfamiliar voice will warn the settlement that 'some kind of convoy' is heading towards the southern gate of the settlement down the road that runs along that route, and that they're not coming for amicable peace talks. Before anyone can get further answers from the voice, they've stopped responding.
And they're right. The moment the convoy arrives at the gate they are not going to wait for a welcome in. A massive vehicle with a huge drill-like attachment will begin to tear at the gate. The moment it's open, no matter how much the residents inside try to fight them back, a huge group of bandits as well as the Tainted that Vicious has been hunting will stream in. They are invading, and they are here to absolutely wreak as much havoc as possible.
Worse off, it seems Helen or someone has managed to quite literally synthesize what the Mist is made out of, and those Tainted are specifically targeting those they have so far deemed 'heavy hitters' and 'major problems' for their group. Why it's come down to this is not known, but Helen is out for blood and she's going to get it in spades...
Below I've listed the pertinent details about the Tainted, what the synthesized Mist does, and some other information about how the event should play out.
What Does Synthesized Mist Do?/How is it Distributed?
Basically take the usual effects of the mist (gradually lowering energy, sapping of strength and abilities, cut off from magic and other such connections), multiply it by at least four, add on some lovely bodily effects such as fluid in the lungs, extreme fever, pneumonia-like symptoms and you've got what this concoction will do to people.
The Tainted and some of the bandits will have syringes filled with the stuff - an inky, gross black goo that burns like hell when it goes in. The more dose injected into someone, the worse the effects, and yes, some people can die from getting a full syringe of the stuff.
(Of course character death is entirely option. No one has to die.
But I know some of y'all are just as cruel as I am fufufufu~)
There are those that will be targeted for sure (as listed below) but anyone can
run afoul of this mess. That said it does also act as a poison of sorts and can have some of the effects mitigated by any generic video game-style antidote. It is not a complete cure but it makes the effects and duration less.
Who Are the Tainted?
🗡️ Leader: Helen
Power: Mist Mouth, conjures mist from her mouth that when inhaled acts as a particularly potent and quick-acting version of the Mist.
General info: Blonde, scarred face, eyepatch.
🗡️ Basile
Power: Mist Claws, fingers stretch into black, boney claws that drip a poison like the Mist
General info: Skinny in a wiry sort of way, short shaved hair, drawling accent
🗡️ Marie
Power: Psychic Mist, causes confusion for an individual person, makes them see enemies instead of friends, messes with their cognitive abilities
General info: Short, straight black hair, "mischievous" smile
🗡️ Michelle
Power: Mist Vines, entangles and stabs with thorns that cause mist effects on a lower grade
General info: Wavy brown hair, average height. May be recognized as one of the bandit leaders from days past.
🗡️ John
Power: Mist Spikes, makes black spikes erupt from the ground, can follow a target for several feet
General info: Heavily built, tall, bald and has several tattoos. May be recognized as one of the bandit leaders from days past.
🗡️ Kade
Power: Mist Duplication, basically what it says on the tin. Duplicates herself with semi-solid projections that can be used to attack.
General info: Willowy, tall, short curly brown-black hair
🗡️ Trey
Power: Mist Shield, the most defensive of all the powers, though he also fights with a sword so he is not entirely without offense.Basically the worst Paladin ever--
General info: Average height and weight, long tied back blonde hair
🗡️ Aleena
Power: Mist Legs, black arachnid-like legs that allow for rapid movement over many surfaces, can also pierce skin to cause a mid-grade mist effect
General info: Short but muscled, mid-length ruddy red hair
Who is Targeted?
While this is not a comprehensive list and you are welcome to put your character on the list (or even have them get messed up without being a target), these are generally the ones Helen has come to consider "a problem".
🎯Vicious (He's literally at the top. Circled. Multiple times.)
🎯The WoLs and some of the WoL adjacent (Alisaie is on the list but Alphi isn't because he's known as a healer more than a combatant right now)
🎯Rin Okumura
🎯Silverwing
🎯Aisha Landar
🎯9S
🎯Kaine
🎯Allen
🎯Zephyr
🎯Mikleo
How Do We Thread for This?
Since there will be so many mostly-nameless NPCs running about, plus the ones that are named, I (Rin) will be unable to give NPC replies to most threads. In this case the threading of actions during the fight will be up to you. Similar to the Banshee attack the best method will be to set up your own threads, either open or closed, and thread amongst yourselves while taking control of the NPCs.
That will include the other Tainted with the exception of Helen who will be my responsibility. Helen will have her own thread at the top of the event log that I will be responding to. The rest will be open for other players to control in their fight threads. If you're unsure about anything, I'm here to help.
Anything Else?
I think I've covered everything, but as always, feel free to drop me a question either in the discord or down below.
Remember, the day of the event will be a separate log going up on April 1st. This post will be for plotting and questions only!
Enjoy the chaos, everyone. c:

Plotting Comment for Leia
Aisha Landar: Aisha isn't sure if she should be flattered that her obvious talent is recognized or if she should be worried about dying again. That second part is why I am not allowing her to die during this. I would be open, however, to having her get horribly injured. She will be doing what she can to make sure those who aren't capable of defending themselves are routed to safety. She has a teleport spell and she will use it.
Allen Lucian: He's already died once. Actually, he's died a lot, but in this place, only once. I'm not allowing him to die again, but he will be doing his big damn hero battle thing because it's already too late to try and put up barriers. He's also gonna be helping out with healing after the fact.
Aurene Kralkatorrik: Aurene is marked for death. My idea is that she will take a hit for Alphinaud. She will absolutely be out there trying to fight for everyone because that's just her lot in life as a WoL. Be mad at me, folks. I'm marking the baby for death this time. I know she has a lot of people who would fight to keep her safe but she's also fighting to keep everyone else safe, too, and if she sees one of her most important people about to take a hit, she's going to step in and be a goddamn hero. This is not up for debate.
Emegen Hyuga: As a WoL she is going to do her best big damn hero impersonation. I'm not opposed to her dying during this, but I'm leaning more towards 'probably not' for her. She will be defending to the best of her ability.
Ryne Waters: Girl is probably not fit yet to be fighting but she's gonna try her best to defend anyway. She got horribly injured recently, so she will not be on the chopping block for death or injury during this.
Alphinaud Leveilleur: He will be out there doing his best to fight and heal, but his main role will be after the battle in getting everyone injured back to health. I considered having him be a victim, but I think what I'm going to do instead is have Aurene take a hit for him.
And as for the remainder -
Kohaku Hearts: Yeah you can't keep her staying inside during all of this. She's going to be out there trying to help as best as she can. Kohaku is one of the ones I'm okay with having a death during this event, so if anyone wishes to plot out how to go about doing that, do feel free to poke me either here or via discord.
Rurik Ackermann: Will not allow him to die. As much as I'd be okay with it, I'm worried about how his girlfriend would react to his death, and we just got her back to a relatively okay-ish mental state if I'm remembering right. So, no death, but he is 100% not going to just sit back and not help defend others and defeat the evils. He has big shoes to fill.
Pyrrha Nikos: Girl is not allowed to die. I would be 100% murdered if she did. She is, however, going to be out and about doing her huntress thing and trying to defend the innocents. She will be happy to take a commanding position during this to help out with organizing as best as possible.
Kana Hjuger: Her man and her big bro figures are targets! She's going to do everything she can to keep them and anyone else safe. And we know Kana. She'll even sacrifice herself if she has to in order to keep people safe. I think I'd probably be murdered if I allowed her to die, though, so she is not up for being killed during this. I'm willing to get her injured or injected with a non-lethal dose of the bullshit, but no death for her.
Hilda: Will be defending with her Pokémon as best as she can, and allowing people to shelter in the Daycare if they need to. I would be okay with her dying during this. It would break my heart a little (lol that's a reference) but I would be okay with it if we found a way of making it happen.
Lillie Aether: I don't want her to die during this. She'll be doing what she can to help shelter people who need it and will be taking a backseat role during all of this. She's gotten stronger as a trainer, but she's definitely not as good at it as Hilda or Juli are, so she'll just back them up.
Juliana Escarlata: The girl has been through SO MUCH BULLSHIT and is experiencing a ton of PTSD and I think death would be going a step back for her, so no death for her. She will be fighting through the PTSD though and backing people up alongside her Pokémon, especially given her man is on the targeted list even despite already having been targeted informally and being injured. She won't be going down without a fight nor letting him go down without a fight.
Miku Hatsune: She will likely be staying back and trying to help make the Loaded Potato a shelter to protect the people who aren't able to defend themselves as well. She's not a fighter. She will be making an effort to help others stay safe.
