FAQ (Public)

FAQ

We're dealing with zombies, potential starvation, wild animals and other dangers. So what's the deal with death here?

Surprisingly, death is not permanent. For some reason, this place has decided you're going to be here whether you like it or not, even if you do get killed by the many dangers that are a problem here.

Should you run afoul of your own demise, expect to be gone for about three days, and upon returning at least half your inventory will be damaged or lost. You will feel at about "half health", meaning likely tired and weak and in need of rest and time before returning to normal.

Whenever that does happen, please use the death page to make record of the incident.

The powers that be do like to keep an eye on these sorts of things.

What happens to dropped characters?

Nothing, really. They'll just be gone, like they went off to explore and never came back.

Can characters bring their pets, familiars, animal companions, Pokémon, or mounts?

Yes.

Pokemon will be limited to the usual six-carried per trainer. Legendaries will not be allowed, even if they were with the person before arrival.

Companions that are shown to be more independent (ie Kuro from Blue Exorcist, R2D2 from Star Wars, Mouse from Dresden Files) will unfortunately not be allowed as a tag-along to their partner and will have to be apped separately, preferably by a different mun.

What can characters bring with them?

Anything they had on their person at the time of being taken. This includes weapons, backpacks, satchels, purses, wallets- basically anything that could be reasonably carried by your character. Items that can carry inventory will be useful and any on the character will be usable as inventory space.

Keep in mind that given the setting, though, electronics will be useless unless you're near a generator, anything with network connectivity will not work, and battery draining will be an issue. On top of that, there will be no way to get any items you missed from home.

How do characters arrive?

As explained in the profile, your character will wake up in a forest, beneath a weak lean-to. Your "spawn" location can be chosen upon apping, using the map and the corresponding number.

Can characters understand each others' languages? Can they read other languages?

Yes. Thanks to the power of ... something something plot something something darkside. It's an RP, this is always in place.

Any power nerfing?

Yes, but it is not permanent.

During Mist events, when the world becomes cloaked in that thick fog and Runner infected become agitated and wander, those with power will find their abilities waning steadily throughout the hour to two hour period of which the Mist is active. They, and non-powered, will also begin to feel weak and tired as if something is sapping their usual energy.

Once the event ends, they will recoup with about the same pace as they lost their powers and energy.

Is there any way to leave?

No. Roads at certain points are blocked off with no way through. Hills climb steadily in to craggy mountains that become bitterly cold and eventually impassable the further up you go. Even if a pathway can be stumbled upon they eventually run in to dead ends and nothing more.

What kinds of characters can I play here?

Abaddonia will accept are the following: Canon characters, game protagonists included, from any set medium with an accessible English translation and/or Wiki/Wikia article. That includes video games, anime, books, light novels, comic books, web comics, movies, live action tv shows, MMOs and manga.

Original Characters, either from pre-established worlds such as table top games or MMOs, or from player created worlds. Fandom OCs will be accepted as well. Past-game histories, aka CRAU, with a short list of changes that have been made as a result of being in those previous games. Links are helpful, if the source is still available to link to!

Alternate Universe characters of current canon characters. Apps for AU characters need to be detailed and list what was different vs what remained the same for the character in question (though we absolutely do not require a novel - just enough to give a good idea of what's different).

Doubles from franchises that specifically have multiple versions of same-named characters (DmC/Devil May Cry, Legend of Zelda, comic reboots, etc) are allowed. Doubles in terms of one OU and one AU or differing points on a timeline for the same character are not allowed.

What time ratio does this game use?

A week's worth of time will be put up every two weeks with details about weather, Mist event times, and other information.
